Kipoi or Kipi, meaning Gardens, were so named because of all the gardens that decorate its beautiful traditional houses.

The village is also popular with those seeking the famous stone bridges of Zagori, as many of them are around: during the area’s economic growth, in the 19th century, Kipi was its administrative center so merchants had to be able to travel to and from, crossing the river all the time and to do that easily they sponsored the building of bridges (some of which bear their name).
